In 1985, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley became the first Western pop act to perform in communist China. The tour was filmed by Lindsay Anderson, commissioned at the time to document it, but he and the band fell out, he was let go, and most of the footage went unseen for four decades.

That footage now forms the spine of WHAM! 10 Days in China, a 90-minute documentary directed by Mike Christie, produced by Supercollider in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment, and in association with the BBC. Cinelab carried out the 4K archival film scanning that helped bring the restored footage back to a broadcast and cinema-ready standard.

The film had a one-day global cinema release on 28 July via Trafalgar Releasing, and broadcasts on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer later this month.
