We provide a full range of services for all client production needs, whether shooting a major feature film, a music video or wishing to find the best solution for archiving requirements. Our brilliant team comprises producers, DITS and digital imaging experts, film and digital specialists, skilled operators, dailies and final colourists, film and digital technicians, archive and restoration and sound specialists.
  

Film Lab Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Operate computer-controlled machines to process and print films. 
  • The work includes mixing processing chemicals, following health and safety procedures, sorting and loading films for processing and setting up and adjusting sophisticated electronic printing machinery.
  • Dark room work required.
  • Technicians usually work 37 to 40 hours a week. Day & night shifts. Weekend work common.
  • On-the-job training provides technical knowledge, expansion of expertise and development of your skill set. 
 
SKILLS & QUALITIES NEEDED
  • To be careful, patient, accurate and methodical.
  • To be able to handle materials carefully.
  • Excellent computer skills for the digital aspects of the work.
  • To work well under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Some knowledge of photography.
  • A good eye for colour.
  • To work well in a team.
  • Confidence working with technical machinery.
  • Some understanding of basic mechanics and electronics.
 
While knowledge of filmmaking and technical industry skills are desired, full training in lab processes, as well as training in new digital technologies is provided in the role. 
 
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
There are no set entry requirements, although qualifications in technical and scientific subjects are an advantage. A qualification in photography or graphic design is useful. 
 
Experience of working in this field is an advantage.
