Girls on Film: Female Artists Call the Shots at the UK Music Video Award Nominations

25th October sees over 100 UK and International artists vying for recognition at this year’s UK Music Video Awards, with female artists dominating some of the most coveted categories.

While the Idles and 1975 boys fight the Mumfords for the Best Rock Video award, a knock-out girl gang is assembled for the coveted prize category of Best International Pop Video: Billie Eilish, Madonna, Sigrid, Tove Lo and Rosalía – the latter nonchalantly scooping two nominations in this category, for her videos for Aute Cuture and the stunning De Aquí No Sales.

Meanwhile, everyone’s favourite hip-hop art martian, FKA Twigs, appears on the nominations for 5 categories of this year’s UK Music Video Awards for her choreographic masterpiece Cellophane.

FKA Twigs sits alongside Rosalía and the actual Queen, Lizzo, on the nominations list for Best Artist.

The winners will be announced on 23 October – in the meantime here’s the full list of nominations.
