Huge congratulations to the team behind Sentimental Value, which won Best International Feature Film at last night’s Academy Awards. Well done to director Joachim Trier and cinematographer Kasper Tuxen, whose work continues to demonstrate the expressive power of shooting on film. Cinelab FIlm & Digital were pleased to support the production with 35mm film processing and scanning, working with the camera and production teams.

We were also delighted to see Paul Thomas Anderson with a long-overdue Oscar in his hands. PTA has famously been an advocate for film as a medium for a long time - Cinelab remain proud of our earlier collaboration with him on Phantom Thread, which was beautifully shot on 35mm film by Paul himself.

Last night we also got to celebrate a landmark moment in cinematography, with Autumn Durald Arkapaw winning Best Cinematography for Sinners, shot on 65mm film, becoming the first woman to receive the Academy Award in the category.

Across the nominations and winners, it was striking how many standout films this year were shot on film. A strong reminder of the medium’s continued power and presence. A great night for film - and for films shot on film.
