From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell, this bold reimagining of Emily Brontë’s classic novel was shot on 35mm film using both 3-perf and VistaVision formats, by cinematographer Linus Sandgren FSF ASC. Cinelab Film and Digital handled film processing and 4K scanning, ensuring the beauty and texture of 35mm shines through every frame.

Working closely with the camera and production teams throughout the shoot, Cinelab processed the original camera negative and produced high-resolution scans used across editorial and post-production. The workflow preserved the full tonal range and texture of the photochemical image while integrating smoothly into the film’s digital finishing pipeline, supporting the final grade by colourist Matt Wallach at Company 3.

The production’s use of VistaVision, offering a significantly larger negative area than standard 35mm, allowed Sandgren to capture exceptional detail and subtle tonal depth while retaining the organic qualities uniquely associated with film capture.

Wuthering Heights is currently playing in cinemas, where the scale and texture of its VistaVision photography can be fully appreciated on the big screen.
