Zhang & Knight’s new short film, part of @BritishVogue’s 2021 video series in celebration of Pride.
“A lot of queer people relate to monsters,” says Vlad Von Kitsch, one of the stars of creative duo Zhang & Knight’s new short film, part of @BritishVogue’s 2021 video series in celebration of Pride. “We spend a lot of our lives being told that we’re inherently monsters. There’s something so empowering about taking that abuse that has been aimed at you and turning it into something positive.”
Linden Feng (Zhang) and Hannah Palumbo (Knight) used their film to highlight artistic members of the LGBTQIA+ community – like Jazmin Bean and Charity Kase – using “inhuman” alter-egos to disrupt heteronormative expectations, and recover from past traumas.
